Computers, WiFi Access & Tips

Internet Computers

The library provides computers for Internet access and Microsoft Office application software (Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint) in the adult reading room. Some computers are designated for using the catalog and research databases.

In order to share these resources equitably, we use timing software, so please sign in with your library card.

When you use a computer, you agree to abide by our Internet Use Policy.

You may use a floppy disk or flash drive/thumb drive to save your documents. Black and White printing is available at $.10/page. Color printing is available at $.25/page.

If you have any questions, please consult a reference librarian.

Free WiFi Access and WiFi Tips

You may also bring your laptop or other wifi devices to the library and use our wireless network.

  • If you should need to enter a network name, our wireless network name is: Wayland Public Library
  • Printing from the wireless network is not available at this time. If you have a document that you need to print, either email it to yourself or save it on removable media and print from an Internet computer.
  • If you use the Minuteman databases from your laptop, please log in as a "Home Access" user rather than an "In Library" user.

As with most public wireless hot spots, the Library’s wireless connection is not secure. Please take appropriate precautions.

Do not transmit personal information (credit card numbers, passwords and any other sensitive information) while using any public wireless hot spot, including the Library’s.

All users of the Wayland Library’s wireless connection are sharing the same unsecured local network. On an unsecured network there may be unscrupulous parties between you and anybody with whom you communicate, and any information being transmitted could potentially be intercepted by another wireless network user.
